SUMMARY:Welcome to Maine comedy show coming to Franco Center Feb. 3
DESCRIPTION:PHOTO CAPTION: Comedians Ian Stuart and James Theberge will bring their Welcome to Maine comedy show featuring Maine themes and topics to the Franco Center at 7 p.m. Saturday\, Feb. 3. Tickets can be purchased at 207-689-2000 and www.francocenter.org/shows. The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar Street\, Lewiston. Submitted photo.  \nWelcome to Maine comedy show at Franco Center Feb. 3  \nLEWISTON—The Welcome to Maine comedy show will be coming to the Franco Center at 7 p.m. Saturday\, Feb. 3. Maine-based comedians Ian Stuart and James Theberge began filming the Welcome to Maine series in late 2020. As part of the comedy show\, Ian portrays Mark and James portrays Troy\, fictional Mainers. They were joined by Cousin Luke\, portrayed by comedian Paul Hunt in late 2021. Aiming to be both funny and informative\, Welcome to Maine blends a mix of updated traditional Maine humor with historical facts and a whole bunch of “yuhts.”   \nThis comedy show is inspired by traditional Maine humorists such as Bert and I\, and Tim Sample but are far from the now-classic comedians.  Welcome to Maine is brutally honest and unassuming. They are not shy to share some of the bold truths that are common elements of daily Maine living.      \nThe troupe’s material features well-known Maine themes and topics which include Allen’s Coffee Brandy\, weed stores\, and Marden’s. Mark is the straight man of the team with a standard reply\, Yuht\, Oh yuht\, or Ooooh yuht\, as Troy and Cousin Luke set up all the material. The trio produced a comedy album which includes skits reminiscent of an Adam Sandler album.  \nVisit the Welcome to Maine Facebook page for videos of this comedy act at https://www.facebook.com/WelcomeToMaineShow or on their website at https://www.welcometomaineshow.com/  \nTickets are $25 in advance\, $30 at the door the day of the show. Cash bar and doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online at www.francocenter.org/shows or by phone at 207-689-2000. Tickets can also be purchased in person at our box office between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.      \nThe Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St.\, Lewiston. Parking is available in the mill lot. The building is handicap accessible on the Lincoln St. Alley side.  \nBUY ONLINE TICKETS HERE \nSeason Underwriter is Maple Way Dental Care; Media Sponsors are Sun Journal\, Turner Publishing\, Uncle Andy’s\, Bennett Radio Group. And\, you guessed it\, Lewiston is also one of those cities! \nYou may know Myq from his numerous TV appearances (Conan\, Letterman\, Comedy Central …)\, or his one hour Amazon standup special “Small\, Dork\, and Handsome” or his two podcasts The Faucet and Broccoli & Ice Cream. \n$20 general admission plus ticket fees \nTICKETS HERE\nFAQ’s About The Show … \nQ: Is prior experience with psychedelics necessary to enjoy the show? \nA: No experience necessary! You don’t need to try psychedelics to enjoy the music and art that’s inspired by them. \n\nQ: Will you be on drugs while performing? \nA: No. Who does psychedelics and then goes to work? What a waste of good drugs. \n\nQ: Are you going to pass out psychedelics to everybody? \nA: Umm NO. Obviously. But if you come and support this kind of message\, meet like-minded people at the show\, and help keep the conversation going; maybe one day these outrageous drug laws will change. \nDoors at 6pm. Cash bar available. \nShow at 7pm.

SUMMARY:International comedy 'The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?' Oct. 6
DESCRIPTION:International comedy ‘The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?’ coming to Franco stage Oct. 6  \nLEWISTON–Robert Dubac’s The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? is an international comedy described by The New York Times as\, “Hilarious… a one man tours de force!” and it’s coming to the Franco Center at 7 p.m. Thursday\, Oct. 6.  \nOn a quest to answer the age-old question\, “What do women want?” Dubac transforms himself into five “hysterical boneheads who each offer sidesplitting advice on how to best straddle the gender gap – all while drinking a beer\,” according to Dubac’s press release.   \nCritics and audiences alike state “The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? is a rare thing: a clever combination of theater and stand-up comedy that is laugh-out-loud funny\, provocative and insightful all at once. There are two types of people who should rush and see it – men and women!” according to The Providence Journal.     \nThe show opens with the character Bobby in a very confused state after having been dumped by the girl of his dreams. Unable to understand why\, he channels some not-so-wise\, but hilarious advice from his five chauvinistic mentors. With a shrug of his shoulders or a crook of his neck\, Dubac’s five alter egos each offer their own brand of misguided advice. They are:   \nTHE COLONEL who insists that the key to what women want is honesty\, hence all men should admit they’re boneheads so they always have an out.   \nJEAN-MICHEL who says communication is what women want and communicating with double-talk and mindless metaphors is completely acceptable as long as you speak with a sexy accent.   \nFAST EDDIE who gives women want they want – passion! But he doles it out from the passing lane professing men have to “love ’em fast and leave ’em first.”    \nOLD MR. LINGER who believes women want a sense of humor. He understands women can play hard to get. He also understands that if a man plays hard to get – he doesn’t get anything.  Old Mr. Linger is 123 years old and believes he has discovered the secret to life: remaining single.   \nRONNIE CABREZZI who believes all women want is some sensitivity. He also thinks sharing your secrets makes you sensitive.  However\, the kind of secrets he shares with his fiancé\, Lucy\, just piss her off.    \nLuckily\, BOBBY realizes their suggestions are worthless and with help from his “feminine side” he is able to sift through all the bad advice and discover the real answer to what women want. He does it all while drinking a beer.    \nBrace yourself\, ladies\, ‘cause this is how men think.   \nHaving been translated into dozens of languages from Hebrew to Hungarian and produced world-wide from the Eiffel Tower to the Heartland\, THE MALE INTELLECT is the kind of universal show that speaks to anyone who has ever been in a relationship. And out of one. And back in one again.    \nDubac creates characters that boggle our minds with biting wit and rapid-fire satire while simultaneously crafting a simple story that binds us all together. His ability to combine the raucous laughter of stand-up comedy with the startling thrill of live theater continues to fill seats everywhere.  \nTickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door day of show. Doors open one hour before show time. The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St.\, Lewiston. Parking is available in the mill lot. Handicap access is on the Lincoln St. Alley side of the building.  \nTICKETS AVAILABLE HERE \n Thank you to our supporters! \nSeason Underwriter: Maple Way Dental Care \nMedia Sponsors: \nBennett Radio Group \nSun Journal \nTurner Publishing \nUncle Andy’s Digest \nEvent Sponsor: \nThe Champoux Insurance Group
