DESCRIPTION:The Thread Theater at the Franco Center is bringing back its version of drama and (sometimes) comedy Friday\, Nov. 21 to the Center’s Lower Level bar and lounge\, sometimes referred to as The Crypt. The Franco Center was once a church and church basements are often called crypts no matter if there are bodies buried in the basement or not. Dan Kane\, Tony Morin\, Jason Pelletier and Danielle Eaton are hosts for the evening.\n\nCash bar and doors open at 6:30 p.m.\nShow at 7 p.m.\nTickets cash only at the door. $10.\n\nThe audience is encouraged to actively let the cast of each play know just how they are doing. The event tends to carry adult themes and usually are not appropriate for minors\, who should be accompanied by responsible adults (or have permission)\, if they do attend.\n\nThread Theater at the Franco Center made its debut in February 2015 and occurred 46 times before its final performance in 2018. More than 300 original 10-minute sketches were written and performed by local people as part of this program.\n\nThe Franco Center is at 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston’s Little Canada neighborhood. Maine-based comedians Ian Stuart and James Theberge began filming the Welcome to Maine series in late 2020. As part of the comedy show\, Ian portrays Mark and James portrays Troy\, fictional Mainers. They were joined by Cousin Luke\, portrayed by comedian Paul Hunt in late 2021. Aiming to be both funny and informative\, Welcome to Maine blends a mix of updated traditional Maine humor with historical facts and a whole bunch of “yuhts.”   \nThis comedy show is inspired by traditional Maine humorists such as Bert and I\, and Tim Sample but are far from the now-classic comedians.  Welcome to Maine is brutally honest and unassuming. They are not shy to share some of the bold truths that are common elements of daily Maine living.      \nThe troupe’s material features well-known Maine themes and topics which include Allen’s Coffee Brandy\, weed stores\, and Marden’s. Mark is the straight man of the team with a standard reply\, Yuht\, Oh yuht\, or Ooooh yuht\, as Troy and Cousin Luke set up all the material. There are two types of people who should rush and see it – men and women!” according to The Providence Journal.     \nThe show opens with the character Bobby in a very confused state after having been dumped by the girl of his dreams. Unable to understand why\, he channels some not-so-wise\, but hilarious advice from his five chauvinistic mentors. With a shrug of his shoulders or a crook of his neck\, Dubac’s five alter egos each offer their own brand of misguided advice. They are:   \nTHE COLONEL who insists that the key to what women want is honesty\, hence all men should admit they’re boneheads so they always have an out.   \nJEAN-MICHEL who says communication is what women want and communicating with double-talk and mindless metaphors is completely acceptable as long as you speak with a sexy accent.   \nFAST EDDIE who gives women want they want – passion! But he doles it out from the passing lane professing men have to “love ’em fast and leave ’em first.”    \nOLD MR. LINGER who believes women want a sense of humor. He understands women can play hard to get. He also understands that if a man plays hard to get – he doesn’t get anything.  Old Mr. Linger is 123 years old and believes he has discovered the secret to life: remaining single.   \nRONNIE CABREZZI who believes all women want is some sensitivity. He also thinks sharing your secrets makes you sensitive.  However\, the kind of secrets he shares with his fiancé\, Lucy\, just piss her off.    \nLuckily\, BOBBY realizes their suggestions are worthless and with help from his “feminine side” he is able to sift through all the bad advice and discover the real answer to what women want.
