The decision to delay the concert by one week came about due to the tragic shootings that have deeply affected the community. \nFiddle-icious is a community-based orchestra whose members are determined to preserve the cultural heritage of Maine’s traditional fiddle music\, dances\, and songs passed down from Scottish\, Irish\, Quebecois\, and Acadian ancestors.   \nThe members of Fiddle-icious are part of a larger fellowship that strives to bring joy and purpose to all who participate—all while keeping the musical tradition alive and thriving. The orchestra is directed by master fiddler Don Roy and accompanied by Cindy Roy on piano.  \nSpecial guests for this concert include Matt and Erica Brown Shipman\, and the sibling act of Rossby\, Elsie\, and Oliver Arnott.  \nThe audience will hear fiddles\, guitars\, flutes\, banjos\, tin whistles\, accordions\, cellos\, violas\, mandolins\, harps\, stand-up bass and other instruments. The orchestra’s music is scored for beginner to advanced players\, creating a full\, rich sound.  \nRoy and his wife\, Cindy grew up in French-Canadian families where music was an integral part of their lives. Fiddle-icious grew out of their desire to share their knowledge with others\, foster community through music and keep their musical heritage alive.  \nIn a social media post\, Fiddle-icious stated that the 2023 season is: “Our first concert series since 2019 and we can’t wait to see all your smiling faces!”  \nTo learn more about the group\, view the 2009 documentary short\, “Fiddle-icious – Community of Music\,” produced by the Salt Institute\, by logging on to www.fiddleicious.com.  \nTickets can be purchased through the Franco Center’s box office in person from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays or call 207-689-2000. Ticket purchases can also be made online at www.francocenter.org/shows.   \nBOX OFFICE TICKETS. \nTickets in advance:  \nTier 1 at $25 and Tier 2 at $20.  \nTickets at the door:  \nTier 1 at $30 and Tier 2 at $25.  \nDoors and cash bar open at 1 p.m. Concert is at 2 p.m. The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar Street\, Lewiston.   \n“Taste the Music” Volume 17\, the 2023 Music Series by Fiddle-icious music CDs will be available for purchase at the concert.   \nAlthough the shelter-in-place order has been lifted in most areas\, we have decided to postpone the Sunday\, Oct 29 performance of Fiddle-icious to the following Sunday\, November 5. \nPatrons who have purchased tickets may still use their tickets for the new date.  If you are unable to attend on November 5\, you may either request a gift certificate to be used towards another Franco Center performance\, request a refund\, or request that it be re-assigned as a donation to the Franco Center.  Requests to change the tickets to another event\, for a gift certificate or for a refund need to be made by Thursday\, November 2. \nYou can reach Susan at 207-689-2000 or by email at boxoffice@francocenter.org or reach out to Penny at 207-514-7477 or pdrumm@francocenter.org \nHandicap access is on the Lincoln Street Alley side of the building. Facebook fans of World Champion Elvis Impersonator\, Robert Washington\, who is sometimes known as The Black Elvis\, say that Washington is “the best Elvis Impersonator on the planet.”  \nWashington is the first black man to win the “Elvis Impersonator World Championship” title\, and he did it in the heart of the South: Memphis\, Tennessee. Winning that title was a historic event for Washington and other black Elvis impersonators. The championship was won in Elvis’s hometown\, “where a black man with a voice like a 747 engine beat out 100 other white contenders\, some who had $30\,000 worth of plastic surgery to look like Elvis\,” according to the fan page.  But not Washington; he is the real deal. He will also perform a few James Brown tunes.\n \nTickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door day of show.  \nTickets can be purchased through the Franco Center’s box office in person from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays or call 207-689-2000. Ticket purchases can also be made online at BOX OFFICE TICKETS.\n \nDoors and cash bar open at 6 p.m. Concert is at 7 p.m. The Franco Center is at 46 Cedar Street\, Lewiston. Parking is in the mill lot across the street. Handicap access is on the Lincoln Street Alley side of the building.  \nFans have posted videos of Robert Washington performing as both Elvis and James Brown\, such as this one https://youtu.be/cMdAuRMd65Q by Stéphan Beauregard.  \nSeason Underwriter is Maple Way Dental Care; Media Sponsors are Sun Journal\, Turner Publishing\, Uncle Andy’s\, Bennett Radio Group.
