SUMMARY:Camp of Christmas Rock at the Franco Center Dec. 3
DESCRIPTION:Date and Time: 2 p.m. Sunday\, Dec. 3. \nCost: $10 to $20 Pay-What-You-Can \nBUY TICKETS HERE\n \nLEWISTON–Students from the Great Falls Academy of Modern Music will perform in a holiday-themed concert at 2 p.m. Sunday\, Dec. 3\, at the Franco Center. “Camp of Rock has been an amazing summer opportunity for kids to rock out in the Lewiston-Auburn area since 2007. But this year\, for the first time ever\, Camp of Rock has branched out and tried something new\,” said Brian Gagnon\, director of GFAMM. “Come see Camp of CHRISTMAS Rock play some of your favorite holiday rock tunes.” \nGagnon went on to say that his young students “have met only four times to learn as many festive\, holiday rock songs as they can\, and because of their energy and enthusiasm\, they’ve learned a set of five songs. Come listen to them rock the beautiful Franco Center.” \nThe students will perform songs that include “Merry Christmas Baby” by Bruce Springsteen\, “Christmas Time All Over Again” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers\, “Please Come Home for Christmas” by The Eagles\, “Christmas Wrapping” by The Waitresses\, and “Christmas Eve Sarajevo” by Trans Siberian Orchestra. \nThis holiday-themed concert\, performed by Lewiston-Auburn youth\, is open to the public. The 2 p.m. concert will begin with solo performances by the students of GFAMM. Doors and concessions open at 1 p.m. \nTickets range from $10 to $20 in a pay-what-you-can method so that more community members can attend and show their support for both the students of GFAMM and the Franco Center. Tickets can be purchased online at www.francocenter.org/shows\, at 207-689-2000\, or in person at the Franco Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. \nThe Franco Center is at 46 Cedar Street in Lewiston. Franco Center photo.  \nNoon Tunes holiday concert to feature Don and Cindy Roy Dec. 7 at Franco Center  \nLEWISTON—The Franco Center presents its special holiday Noon Tunes live musical entertainment at its quarterly La Rencontre luncheon Thursday\, Dec. 7. Doors and cash bar open at 10:30 a.m. for socializing. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. followed by featured musical artists Don and Cindy Roy.  \nDiverse cultures\, performing arts\, and languages come together during La Rencontre (the gathering). Traditionally\, in Franco culture\, big celebratory meals included live music provided by members of the family and their neighbors. Many families made sure their kids each learned to play an instrument in order to entertain at such gatherings — and so\, accordingly\, the Franco Center invites local musicians to provide live music for its guests.  \nThe menu includes tourtiere (meat pie)\, vegetables\, roll\, and dessert.   \nDon and Cindy Roy are known for their Franco American traditional music and have performed across the country together for over 40 years\, Don on fiddle and Cindy on piano with step dancing.  Don was introduced to the fiddle at the age of 15 by his uncle Lou Mathieu\, a noted fiddler within Franco American circles\, and soon he was winning fiddle contests throughout Maine and beyond. In 2018\, Don and Cindy were honored to receive a National Heritage Fellowship Award from the National Endowment for the Arts.  \nTickets are $17 and include the meal and entertainment. All seats are reserved. Tickets must be purchased by noon Monday\, Dec. 4\, so we can plan the number of meals to prepare. Tickets will not be sold at the door.  \nCall the box office at 207-689-2000 or visit between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Purchase online at www.francocenter.org/shows.  \nLa Rencontre series is sponsored by FACE Foundation\, TV5 Monde\, and the Quebec Delegation Boston.   \nThe Franco Center is at 46 Cedar St.\, Lewiston. Parking is in the Oxford Street mill lot. Handicap access in on the Lincoln St. Side of the building.

SUMMARY:Sights and Sounds of a homestyle Christmas back at the Franco Center
DESCRIPTION:LEWISTON–Following the success of last year’s premiere of Sights and Sounds of Christmas\, the fundraising event returns “bigger and better than ever” to the Franco Center on Dec. 15 and 16 with three separate performances\, according to show producer\, Jake Hodgkin. Dozens of performers will sing\, dance\, act\, and produce an energetic and vibrant festive Christmas show complete with an immersive light show. “The light show will produce a snow effect in several scenes and also a visual look at what it would be like to travel in Santa’s sleigh.”  \nWith an evening show at 7 p.m. Friday\, Dec. 15\, followed by a matinee show at 2 p.m. and evening show at 7 p.m. Saturday\, Dec. 16\, the Franco Center’s beautiful Performance Hall stage will be the scene of holiday-themed performances\, music\, and a light show.  “This Christmas show is an event for the whole family\, where memories can be made\,” said Franco Center Board President Elaine Roop.  \n“The matinee’s light show and projections will not have the full effect due to the fact that the Franco Center’s Performance Hall cannot be darkened during the day\,” Hodgkin said. “The overall emphasis is to give the feeling of an old-fashioned homestyle Christmas. If you are looking to get in the holiday spirit\, don’t miss this show.”  \nTickets for the Franco Center’s Sights & Sounds of Christmas Show range from $7 to $25.
