LEWISTON–Dr. Nirav Shah, director of Maine Center for Disease Control, a trusted source of public health announcements regarding COVID-19, visited the Franco Center on Friday, June 24, 2022, to see himself spoofed in Royal Family Productions’ drama, “COVID Still Sux, The Musical: Part 2.” Also checking out the musical was Lewiston Mayor Carl Sheline.
Both men were seen laughing and clapping during the rehearsal.
Dr. Shah was greeted by Chris Henry of Royal Family Productions.
The actors sing parodies of Broadway hit songs that have lyrics changed to spoof COVID-19 and Dr. Shah’s messages throughout the pandemic.
The musical will take place in the Franco Center’s Heritage Hall at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26. Tickets can be purchased at www.royalfamilyproductions.org.
