Mission

We strive to honor and preserve our Franco-American heritage, and welcome our neighbors from diverse cultures through live performances, celebrations, and education.

We provide live performing arts and events that transform and engage our audiences and that enrich our community. Franco Center is a vibrant and energetic venue where diverse stories and cultures are shared.

This new arts education program at the Franco Center features multi-session, hands-on, skill-based art workshops culminating in a celebration with friends and family. Participants will gain a sense of accomplishment and the chance to forge new relationships through these workshops.

Research has shown myriad benefits to the health and well-being of adults who participate in the arts. Through these workshops, adults will realize that they are essential, competent, creative and contributing participants in the life of the Franco Center and the community. The new program will address a growing awareness of ageism in our society.

The Franco Center recognizes the role it can play in providing free arts education opportunities through this program that is designed to meet the expressed needs and interests of adults. The workshops will be led by a professional teaching artist skilled in arts education.

This teacher will create a space for participants to safely offer feedback, discuss their work and build community. The students will create art, not just learn about it. Each class will build on previously learned skills. Social interaction and engagement are built into every workshop.

After the completion of all workshops, the participants will host a public celebration at the Franco Center. The students and teacher can share their creations and accomplishments with families and friends in an event that will be open to the public. In this particular program, the workshop participants created artwork and the final celebration will be an exhibit of that artwork with a reception.
