Penny received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education while living in Florida. She has worked 33 years in the local arts community as a business manager. Five years ago, she left her job of 28 years to start her business, SmART Management. She has immersed herself in the local arts community even more. She now helps four major local arts organizations on a regular basis and assists another with Performance!, the joint program for which she gathers advertising while maintaining a handful of non-arts bookkeeping clients. She was given a unicorn headband as a gag gift recently for making magic happen. She lives in Oxford and has 2 adult daughters and one adult bonus daughter.
Roger Dubois — Custodian
Roger retired from 22 years at Bath Iron Works. He is married and has three adult sons. In his spare time, Roger builds birdhouses. He divides his time between his Auburn home and camp on Tacoma Lake.
Jake Hodgkin — Production Manager
Jake, of Mechanic Falls, has a background in lighting and sound technology from working on many theatrical productions. He has a successful DJ and entertainment rental business of fun party props and equipment including a dunk tank and bounce house. Jake has been known to give dance lessons and to break out in song on the piano. He is passionate about delighting people with scary Halloween walks and pretty Christmas light shows. In his free time when he isn’t zipping off to Boston or Quebec with his friends, he referees high school basketball.
Denise Scammon — Marketing/Development Director
Denise has a bachelor’s degree in the Arts & Humanities, communication and graphic design skills, and shares historical information in exhibits and tours at the Franco, grant writing, social media and blog posts that entertain and inform, and innovative programs. Denise and her husband have two adult children and one rescued Ragdoll cat. They divide their time between their Auburn home and camp on Bear Pond.
Susan Spellman — Box Office Manager
Susan, our box office manager and administrative assistant, has found a job which fits right in with her love of the performing arts! Previously, she was box office manager at The Public Theatre for nine seasons. She also enjoys her volunteer work with the Dempsey Center in Lewiston. She is a graduate of Bates College with a degree in Mathematics. Susan and her husband have two adult children and divide their time between their home in Auburn and cottage in Casco.
Theresa Shanahan, Development/Events
Theresa, a resident of Auburn, has experience in the non-profit sector as well as experience in event coordinating. Her experience includes being the Executive & Development Director of the Maine Ski and Snowboard Museum and most recently as the Event Coordinator and Catering Chef at a venue in Southern Maine. Originally from Connecticut, Theresa became a Mainer in 1988 residing in the western mountains of Maine where she raised her two adult children. She shares her home with a cat and a dog.
